Visitors!

The first family members to see our new home were Andrew's uncle Jim and aunt Denise. They live about an hour away in Virginia and they were nice enough to accompany us on the day of our home inspection. Then Jim was here to help us move which was so so nice of him. Denise was sent to Abu Dhabi for work for three months so she hasn't been back here yet since the inspection day. We are so excited for her to return and come see our home!

Our next visitor was Andrew's brother Matt just a couple of weeks ago. He was in Towson, MD for work and instead of flying home right after his training, he stayed an extra night and spent the time with us. We had great weather that night so we grilled burgers and hung out on the deck. It was fun! Always great to see family and we were of course excited to show him our house. I forgot to take pictures!!

Two days after Matt left, Andrew's cousin Rebecca was in town from San Francisco for the weekend. Rebecca is an interior designer so I was definitely excited to get some advice from her on paint colors and other design projects for the house. We had Rebecca and Bill and uncle Jim over for dinner Saturday night. We made an awesome chicken stir fry for dinner and everyone loved it! Rebecca gave us some great suggestions and she is sending us some swatches to take a look at to figure out exactly what we're going to do paint-wise in the house. Thanks so much Rebecca!!

And that brings us to this weekend. It feels good to finally have the blog updated to present day. Hopefully from now on I will be able to update more frequently. Things seem to be calming down a little bit and we're settling in nicely at the house. The walls are still bare because we want to paint before we hang anything, but otherwise it is all coming together nicely.

Friday morning, Andrew found out that Ben Folds and Weezer were playing at the football stadium at the University. I have always wanted to see Ben Folds, and I really liked Weezer in the 90's...so we decided to go. What a GREAT night! The weather was awesome...it was warm out but there was a really nice breeze that kept up all through the show. It was so fun.

Saturday night we had Andrew's cousin Bill and his girlfriend Michelle over for dinner. The weather was really nice that night too so we cooked out and made grilled chicken sandwiches with provolone and fresh avacado slices. Delicious. We also made an awesome potato salad with bacon and roasted red peppers. A little corn on the cob to go along with it and dinner was a complete success. Thanks so much for coming, guys! We had a great time!

Today, I had a friend from work's baby shower to go to. It was a really nice shower with tons of great food. Erin got lots of super cute gifts and she seems well prepared to welcome her little one, Chase, in just a few weeks! Congratulations to Erin and BJ!

Another event going on today was K-State Cheerleading tryouts!!! My little sister Sarah is a rockstar cheerleader and she was trying out. I couldn't stop checking my phone all day long to see if I had a text or a phone call from either my sister or my mom telling me how the tryout went. Just a few minutes ago, I got the call that Sarah made the team!!! I am SO happy for her and SO proud!!!! Way to go Sarah!!! GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all for now, friends. I will really make a concerted effort to keep this thing updated better than I have been.

This week I am interviewing for a promotion at work. Wednesday at 10:00am to be exact. I am excited for the interview and hopeful that I get the job. It will certainly be a challenge but one that I feel I am ready to take on. Send good vibes my way this week!! Maybe I'll update again Wednesday evening and let everyone know how the interview goes. :-)

Adventure to Clearwater Beach, FL March 17 - 21

This year we were lucky enough to get to visit Clearwater Beach, FL for 5 days.

My Grandma Kit rented a house on the beach last year for the month of March but we weren't able to go...so this year we asked for the plane tickets for Christmas and made the trip! We were so glad that we did. In the midst of buying a house and an impending move approaching, a beach vacation really could not have come at a better time.

We arrived around lunch time on Wednesday March 17th just as my uncle Mark and aunt Susan and their kids were headed out to get to the airport for their flight back to KC. It was great to see them and catch up even though we only had 15 minutes or so. We went and had lunch that first day with Grandma at an awesome place but I can't remember the name of it. I had the fish and chips and Andrew tried his first soft shell crab sandwich. I think its funny that we moved to Maryland months ago and the first time we tried soft shell was on a trip to Florida!! Oh well. Both of our meals were delicious!!

After lunch, we headed back to the house to hang out and wait for my parents, little sister, and all of her friends to get there. It was sunny and warm out so we sat on the beach and we both ended up falling asleep in our chairs! Thankfully, we didn't stay asleep roasting in the sun for too long and we both avoided serious sunburns. Mom and Dad, Sarah, and 5 of her friends arrived that evening. We ordered pizza for dinner that night and just lounged around at the house.

The next three days were filled with minimal activity, a lot of reading, catching up, and general relaxation. It was such a wonderful trip. We also got to watch KU get knocked out of the tournament while we were there, and K-State move forward...who are we kidding? That was totally awesome. Across the country, people's tournament brackets crumbled in a matter of moments. Always proud to be a Wildcat. :-)

That Sunday when we left, it was raining and a little bit chilly...so that made leaving a bit easier. It is never fun to leave a vacation on a sunny, hot, beautiful day. We said goodbye to the family and our shuttle picked us up to head back to the airport.

Monday morning we were both back at work and trying to get back into a routine. That weekend we finished up our packing and prepared for the following week...Wilco Tuesday night, closing Wednesday afternoon, and moving Saturday. It was a big one for sure!!

The Wilco concert was down in Bethesda at the Strathmore Music Center. A gorgeous space, relatively small, a very cool venue. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures from that night because they do not allow cameras...but it was a great show. It was "An Evening with Wilco" so they had no opening act and they played for a full three hours. It. Was. Awesome. We ranked in probably our top two favorite Wilco shows to date. We heart Wilco. :-)

And we heart Florida vacations. :-)
